Hotel discounts are available at the Admiral Fell Inn and their sister hotel, the Inn at Henderson’s Wharf, which is within walking distance of the conference center, and on a quiet side street (and has a gym and a secured parking lot). If you would like to stay at either of these hotels with conference discounts, please use the links below, which are available until May 19th. We have a limited number of rooms for ISBN conference attendees, which includes a variety of room types, views, and prices. Note that these prices are offered 2days pre- and post-, as available. The days leading up to the conference include Maryland FleetWeek.

There is no deposit when reserving (they may put a $1 hold on your card), and cancellation policy is 48 hours prior. Both locations include continental breakfast, and there are also coffee shops/bakeries on Thames Street, which connects the two hotels.

Note: prices are listed slightly higher online than actual because a “destination fee” is built into the online pricing that cannot be altered to reflect our discount. However, the destination fee will be waived and not assessed into the actual price:

PRESIDENTIAL LECTURE

We are very pleased to announce that this year’s Presidential Lecture will be given by Frederick Streeter Barrett, PhD, the Oliver Lee McCabe, III, Ph.D. Professor in the Neuropsychopharmacology of Consciousness, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and Director of the Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Barrett has been conducting psychedelic research at Johns Hopkins University since 2013, and his research focuses on the psychological and neurological mechanisms underlying the enduring therapeutic and other effects of psychedelic drugs.

BANQUET DINNER

The banquet dinner will be held on the last night of the conference (June 21st) after a full day of presentations. A perfect time to unwind and relax with friends before heading back home. Dinner will beheld at La Scala Restaurant in the heart of Baltimore’s Little Italy. La Scala is walkable from Fells Point, and there is a courtesy restaurant shuttle as well.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES / EXCURSION

We will visit the Fort McHenry National Monument and Shrine (where Baltimore defended itself in a fierce battle against the British Navy in 1814, during which Francis Scott Key penned the Star Spangled Banner). We will arrive via water taxi from Fells Point to Fort McHenry. The water ride back will turn into an evening harbor cruise (with drinks and light appetizers). The Fort McHenry visit and harbor cruise will be led by our tour guide.

Note: due to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in the Baltimore Harbor on 3/26, water-oriented excursion plans may change.

TRAVEL INFO

Baltimore is very accessible by car, train, and air.

CAR: right off of I-95, and you can GPS to your hotel. Street parking is usually time-limited and pay by the hour. However, I recommend a parking garage for the full day:

  • Admiral Fell Inn recommends this nearby parking garage: 805 S. Caroline St (6 min walk to the conference site)
  • There is a secured lot at Henderson’s Wharf for hotel lodgers.

TRAIN: Arrive at Baltimore’s Penn Station (served by Amtrak and MARC trains).  You can then cab or rideshare to Fells Point, about 17 minutes away.

AIR:

  • Baltimore-Washington International Airport is the closest, about 30 minutes from Fells Point. There is a commuter train that can get you to Penn Station, and then cab from there, but it is easier to cab/rideshare directly from BWI to your hotel. You can also rent a car from BWI. The light rail will NOT get you close enough to Fells Point to be worth the effort.
  • You can also fly into DC airports, take the metro to DC’s Union Station, then train to Baltimore’s Penn Station (then cab to hotel), or rent a car from either airport:
           Reagan National Airport
           Dulles International Airport
