TRAVEL INFO

AIR: The airport closest is the Auckland Airport (AKL).
North American gateways:
– NYC, LAX, SFO
– Vancouver

Eastern Gateways:
– Asia (Singapore, Hong Kong, etc.)
– Middle East (Dubai, Doha)

Getting to Auckland CBD from the airport: The downtown / CBD is an 20-40 min drive from the airport. The most convenient option is to take a taxi or the Super Shuttle (it is recommended to book in advance). Public transit can take up to 1.5 hours. Please see here for more information.

Customs clearance and biosecurity: As an island, NZ’s biosecurity is a huge deal and breaches can incur large fines. You will need to make a declaration less than 24 hours before you travel – download the app here. Note that this declaration is in addition to any immigration entry requirements. Do not bring any food other than commercially packaged items – and it is safest to declare these in the app as well (as some are restricted).

Important: Review travel entry and visa requirements well ahead of your trip. Visitors from countries under the Visa Waiver Program (e.g., the USA, Canada, and Germany) do not require a visa to enter New Zealand for short stays, but an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) is required. Please apply in advance. More information can be found here.
